September has arrived and we are back to school, ready to work hard. I want to welcome all the grade eight students back to class and hope we can work together to have a wonderful year of fun and learning.

In ELA the grade eight class will begin the year with a Novel called “A Company of Fools” by Deborah Ellis. As we listen to the story each student will be required to keep a journal of their experience.

Our First French unit is entitled “Au Casse-CroĆ»te” and is about Fast Food. Students will learn about food choices and ordering in restaurants.

In Social Studies we will begin our journey through history with a short unit on Worldviews. We will explore what a worldview is, how a person’s worldview is developed, what influences our worldview, and how our worldview affects the way we see the world.

Here’s hoping we have a wonderfully exciting and productive year!

Hello, all!

It is a new year, and the grade 8 students are currently participating in remote learning. Each student was sent home with a package of work before Christmas break, and they are meeting regularly via Microsoft TEAMS to ensure the consistency and continuation of their learning during this unprecedented time.

We are currently finishing up our social studies unit on Ancient Egypt.

The grade eight class is just finishing a novel study and have a SKOOB book report to complete for January 19th.

We just began a new unit in French. Our new unit is called Choix Multiples, in which we are learning about careers and fields of study.

If all goes well, we will be able to return to the school on Monday, January 18th, to continue our learning together, in person.

                                             Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

October is here and the grade 8 class is busy working on a variety of things:

We are keeping a listening journal for the novel "A Company of Fools" by Deborah Ellis. It is the story of some choirboys, living in a French monastery, during the 14th century, while the black plague ravages the outside world.

We are conducting small investigations in French class in our second unit "Chasse aux Indices"

We are also exploring the world of our ancient human ancestors, and the development of farming in social studies.

A reminder that picture day is coming up on October 20th. There will only be individual pictures taken this year, as we are unable to gather together for our usual class photo.
